Personal Care Products Industry Helps Drive U.S. Economy

According to the Personal Care Products Council, a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed the personal care products industry is one of the most dynamic and innovative industries driving the United States economy. Data showed the industry contributed $236.9 billion to the country’s GDP, and supported 3.6 million domestic jobs that earned $144.3 billion in wages in 2013. Also, the industry exported $16.9 billion in 2014, accounting for $5.8 billion in the country’s surplus. Of the industry’s total employment, more than two-thirds is in small businesses with fewer than 50 employees.
