Seaweed Becoming Popular Ingredient In Global Bodycare Market, Mintel Says

January 26, 2016: 12:00 AM EST
Seaweed is fast becoming popular as an ingredient for bodycare products, with about 2 percent of product launches in January 2011 to October 2015 containing the material from the ocean. Mintel’s Global New Product Database also revealed brown and red seaweeds are the most common species used. Some of the popular seaweed-containing new products include Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Essence facial skincare product from South Korea, Noevir Tokara Body Lotion, and SeaFlora Soothing Sea Kelp Soak. Seaweed offers many benefits, such as the control of cellulite fat. According to Mintel GNPD, products with brown seaweeds their makers claim help address issues, such as firming, slimming, and anti-cellulite.
